The Bible study on the epistle of Jude that I have been writing for the past several months has a title and a cover—“Keeping the Faith: A Study in Jude” is scheduled to be released in January of 2020.
When we first find Jude in this letter, after his initial greetings, he is compelled to send an urgent message that is on his heart and mind. He writes, “Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (v. 3). Jude’s message helps protect the saints and preserve the truth in our contexts. With his direct words and tender heart, he exemplifies treasuring the gifts of salvation, the faith, the church, and—most of all—Jesus Christ.
The epistle concludes with a cherished doxology, “Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ out Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen” (vv. 24-25). Through this forthcoming study, learn to keep yourselves for Christ, even as Christ keeps you for Himself.
